I have some questions about breeding. <br>How old do you think that the female should be before taikng her out from breeding stock? <br>How many times per year do you mate her? <br> <br>i am asking because we are trying to write down some information about breeding it had happen several times that the female has been to young, and that the owners don't know that a 7 week old female can get pregnant. And that the breeding is to tight many is getting the female pregnant to soon after that the litters has left the female. So we in the Swedish hedgehog association would like to hear your opinion about this.

We have some rules for breeding <br> <br>- female should be from 6 months to 3,5 years old when she is used for breedin <br>- the first litter should be done before female is from 1 to 1,5 years old <br>- no more than 3 litters per year <br> <br>- after mom has given birth, the nest should be left alone for 5 days <br>- when the babies are 14 days, they can be started to handle <br> <br> <br>- the boys need to separate from their sisters and mom at the age of 5 - 6 weeks <br>- babys should be 8 weeks old and able to eat at drink by themselves and weight 200 g when they are given to new owners <br> <br>Hopefully this is some help for you.
